A farewell cake

My dear friend Sheri, who worked with me the past five years, left on Halloween for a new job.

We celebrated with lunch out and cake!! Orange & purple colored white cake, buttercream & blackberry filling. It’s one of my favs and was pretty tasty too.

Another farm cake for Mister Caleb. When I delivered this cake, Caleb came out and told me it was “awesome” and told his mom that it was “time to get this party started!” So darned cute – love him!

This was the first time I’d ever used rice crispy treats to form something for my cakes. Used it for the tires. I used donuts for the tires on the last tractor cake I did. Both worked good but I really liked using the crispy treats – no wonder all the pros do!

Ninety Years Old

Love doing cakes for elderly people. They’re past the point of caring what it looks like, tastes like, just care about the company of others.

This one was for my sister-in-law’s grandmother. Amazing to think of 90 years on this earth. The Lord is good.

Apple butter

The beginnings of some good stuff – crockpot apple butter. Jason, the kids & I picked apples from some really old trees on the farm. Was majority Fallawaters, some Virginia Beauties and one Pippen.

Was some of the best apple butter I’ve ever ate.

Repeated the next weekend with the majority Virginia Beauties and a few Fallawaters. . . was good but not near as good as the first batch. I was addicted to this stuff for three weeks. Bfast, lunch & supper.

Tractor & Farm Cake

This is a cake I did for Court, he’s my sister-in-law’s sister’s son. Some chocolate & some white cake. Yum.

Whooose Birthday?

Did this owl cake for a un-birthday type of birthday cake.

I loved the decorations on it and then felt like I ruined it with my writing. Wish I’d have taken more time to think out the lettering & spacing. Oh well, it still turned out pretty cute.

Red velvet with buttercream. Tasted great!

Smurfy Birthday

Miss Lydia chose Smurfs as her birthday theme this year and here’s the cake:

The top of the mushroom is chocolate cake, bottom strawberry cake and the grassy part is white cake.

Behind it is 18 cupcake for party favors.

A Thirty-Fifth Firthday

I love the colors in this and the fact that I tried some new things with it.

Bottom layer is white cake with blackberry filling. Second is red velvet, third (smallest) is chocolate with ganache filling and top is white cake with plain buttercream.

Now let’s hope we can get it delivered up in the mountains in one piece.
